Local 301 President Tim Dwyer had made a commitment to provide comprehensive Steward Training for the two hundred seven (207) Stewards that represent our members in facilities throughout New England. As of April 29, 2008 one hundred sixty two (162) Stewards from Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont have attended Steward training in Springfield, MA, Boston, MA and Stowe, VT. The Stewards from Maine will be trained on May 22-23, 2008 in Augusta, ME. This is the first Steward Training in Local 301 in over ten years. The Steward Training was conducted by the National Shop Steward Trainer Sam D’Ambrosio and the Local 301 Officers. Also in attendance at the training sessions were Bill Flynn, Manager Contract Administration, NPMHU, Ray Sokolowski, Regional Director, NPMHU and Terry Donahue, Regional Representative, NPMHU. The training was conducted using the new Shop Steward Manual that had been revised in March 2008. Stewards also received a video presentation on the Flat Sorter Sequencing Machines that will be deployed in our facilities in Springfield, MA , Northwest Boston, North Reading and Providence, RI in 2009 and 2010. Upon completion of the training the Stewards were awarded Certificates of Completion from National Shop Steward Trainer Sam D'Ambrosio and Local President Tim Dwyer. |
