National President Hegarty and National Secretary-Treasurer Gardner Announce NPMHU and USPS Reach Tentative Agreement over Terms of New National Agreement

Terms of New Five-Year Tentative Agreement to be Released at 3:00 pm on Thursday, December 14, 2006

The National Officers and National Contract Administration Department have reached tentative terms on a new, five-year collective bargaining agreement with the USPS.

The National Postal Mail Handlers Union and the USPS have announced the settlement over the terms of a five-year collective bargaining agreement, which will tentatively cover a period from November 21, 2006 through November 20, 2011.  Details of the agreement will be released at 3:00 pm on Thursday, December 14, 2006, when National Officers will conduct a nationwide teleconference with the Presidents from all 37 Local Unions.  The precise terms of the agreement will at the same time be released on the NPMHU web site and mailed to thousands of Local Union Officers and Representatives across the Country.

The National Executive Board will be meeting in the upcoming weeks to adopt specific procedures for the ratification process to follow for the membership of the NPMHU vote on approval of the tentative agreement.  Please consult with your Bulletin Boards, the National website and this site for more details on the tentative collective bargaining agreement.
